Dear Snowline Joint Unified School District Parent/Guardian,

The Snowline Joint Unified Transportation Department consists of approximately fifty people dedicated to serving the transportation needs of Snowline Joint Unified School District’s learners of all ages.  The commitment made by each of these individuals is “to provide the SAFEST and most efficient transportation services to our students”.  Our staff of drivers, mechanics, instructors and supervisors all expect one thing – simply that their commitment and dedication will enable all students to arrive safely at school every morning – ready to learn – and will enable all students to arrive safely at home every afternoon.

SJUSD offers Fee Based home to school transportation for students.  The information contained in this packet concerns your child’s participation in the transportation program for the 2010-2011 school year.  Included, you will find an application, rate schedule, procedures and checklist.  In addition, it contains information that will be useful throughout the school year relating to renewal of bus passes and general operational policies and rules of conduct while riding a school bus.  Feel free to visit the SJUSD Transportation web site at www.snowlineschools.com for more helpful information.

The application must be completely filled out and submitted with full payment.  Failure to submit the appropriate documentation may cause a delay in the processing of your student(s) bus pass.  Applications that are incomplete or without payment will be returned to you by mail.  All bus passes must be purchased in advance; no cash will be accepted by the drivers.

In case of financial hardship and when a student qualifies for free/reduced meals, they may qualify for a free/reduced bus pass.  You must submit appropriate bus pass application and verification documentation. If the application meets the qualifications for free/reduced transportation, a bus pass shall be mailed to the address provided on application. Applications for free/reduced transportation may be required at the beginning of each semester (2 times a school year).  Proof of eligibility must be submitted with application.

To ensure sufficient time to issue bus passes prior to the start of the 2010-2011 school year, all completed applications must be received at the Snowline Transportation Department Bus Pass Office no later than July 23rd, 2010.   Bus pass applications will be accepted beginning May 24th, 2010.  You may apply on-line through the SJUSD web site, by mail, or at the Snowline Transportation Bus Pass Office.

The task of implementing a Fee Based Transportation Program is sizeable and requires the cooperation of all involved.  Our staff will process all applications a soon as we possibly can.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Snowline Transportation Department at (760) 868-6739

Sincerely,

Karyn Stemrich
Director of Transportation
