Welcome to the New Year!  We are excited about the continuing activities of our staff and students and encourage you to view our web site on a regular basis to stay informed regarding district events.
Recently there has been some attention by the media with respect to teacher training, performance and tenure.  Districts throughout California have struggled with this issue long before cuts in funding and reduction of administration.  With that said, Snowline School District has made the commitment over the years to be proactive and has instituted the following:
  1.  FOS (Focus on Standards) Program - coaches mentor and support all teachers regarding student achievement.
  2.  BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment) Program - coaches mentor all first and second year teachers regarding effective instruction.
  3. Staff Development Program - provides ongoing training of teachers regarding research-based instructional practices.
  4. State-required formal administrative observations utilizing an evaluation process based upon California standards for the teaching profession.
  5. Regular informal administrative observations throughout each year.
  6. NCLB (No Child Left Behind) and HQT (Highly Qualified Teachers) mandates which require all teachers to meet certification standards.
  7. Structured collaboration days where teachers review, discuss, share, and present best teaching strategies.

Although these are some of the more significant strategies related to teacher training and performance, there are many additional programs and staff development activities which teachers participate in that have a direct impact on instruction and student success.
We believe these components, in combination with the commitment of all of our certificated, classified and administrative employees, is why Snowline is the number one ranked district in the High Desert and the third highest ranked K-12 district in San Bernardino County!  Are we proud of our district?  Absolutely!  Do we believe we can continue to improve?  Absolutely!
