hello my name is Darren Johnson and this is my snow life story yeah my experience at sewing District in sixth grade at Pinon Mesa I came from Oakland 5th grade I was homeschooled prior to that point and for me it was like harmful about snow lions I remember coming to A that was country in Oakland was a large city had a bunch of like feet Urban experiences in the city life in the country experience was really powerful Lincoln Middle School is where I really still in love with sports as I journey into high school where I graduated I really had a powerful Journey that was one of the students that did a lot of sports I played four years of football I played I ran for you to track I did choir for all four years and I also was really active in the Future Farmers of America so I had a really cool experience I graduate from high school I had I think one of the most intense High School experiences stop all of my siblings that all want to start a high school as far as experiencing a variety of gifts and variety of offering this Ronald had a course when I was in high school to clean the famous that first day of champion bear at straughn high school football program coming into our sophomore and Junior and Senior year scores. I had a very experience at Serrano by I want to be on a couple of pieces that all my teachers about my educational experience which really season 2 out of a graduated 2001 is that I was in special education and I was all of my classes until my sophomore and junior year at the majunior on Main Street in all my classes this important because we talked about a school system and support and child we are special education this is trouble it can be a struggle host and so I want to give a lot of gratitude to mrs. minute who was my case holder and special education teacher because as I graduated from Shawnee High School and decided can I go to college can I be successful can I be dynamic it's who I am as a person it really was feeding off of good education even education was hard and so I graduate 2001 and I went to Chaffey junior college for like 3 years that I thought maybe that's where I would stop I majored in photography and video it loved it and then I got accepted to I applied and accepted as a transfer student is a cow Hearts which is about 30 MI 3035 Mi east of Los Angeles very competitive Art School film school dance schools have six schools and why can I recognize when I looked at my house I didn't know if I would ever go to college let alone graduate I also recognize that many people graduate high school and start college but not everyone finishes college and so when I graduated 2007 my bachelor's degree from calarts I really was humbled understand that a special education student that may have not had an opportunity to get a higher education I achieve that goal and I gradually just a 7 and economy crash 2008 so Artist as a filmmaker I could not create the incoming job right away he was a tough journey and wasn't done mostly powerful as I started my uncle in San Diego that start of the janitorial company I didn't janitorial work for 2 years after college and then the konery covered itself I started working as a photographer as a teacher I'm teaching photography and training on Fulton here in the Church of the important to the church is hugin establishing a place for deep mentor and establishing is still set to communicate and the Jewel forward from 2008/2009 7:10 and that's when I started facilitating and teaching until every feeding back into my Edge structure of a couple things I want to mention about that and that is where I graduated I was in the Future Farmers of America and I by about twenty one years old I run at college experience I became the state of California choir director for the Future Farmers of America organization every year in April we have his conference Fresno at the time now it's here in Anaheim with back then it was in Fresno and I would direct you know 30 40 50 kids in a choir and wasn't worried about that is that came from Sorrento David Nelson now as long as the board on the board at school with my teacher and he was a key person to get me invited to direct the steak why I did it take wire for 10 Heroes of the choir director I participated in it as 4 years as a student was significant is that when you're this conference is 5,000 people in the audience and I learn and develop a really good skill being present for the people to this day now that I can still take in Publix what happened to the Surly years acquired Wrecking Crew front of a lot of people when you're the governor Arnold came to the conference in the news came and we still had a performed so that education is Toronto has had a life-changing impact and how I work today as a facilitator and a teacher in the context of Travelers I do a lot of traveling now as a keynote speaker at his Workshop around diversity training for organizations to help work on a tin surround race, so that's why I work a lot throughout United States are mostly in the north west and the east coast and the bay area's are worth the most but I travel a variety of places to to help create a better world for all of us but including around top of the race and diversity in baldy Mesa on Bannister Road yet just because this little church is a dynamic of my existence that brings in the family peace my mother and father both or pastors my dad passed away 2010 my mom still preaches and so I teach and preach Dynamic relationship with family come important when my father passed away in 2010 I made the choice to stay here in the high desert being that I store them to move Los Angeles to move into San Francisco Bay Area my father I said I need to be here to help support what he started here in the high desert and what were they formed me in a lot of ways and so it was difficult because I was searching for a lifelong partner searching for someone to invest with I had to make a conclusion that they were going to move from where they were to the high desert and one got found is that the high desert sometimes can be framed as a place that's not Progressive or doesn't have a lot to offer is not beautiful and my wife while I'm at in Fort Bragg I thought this is amazing and I'm like I went to her apartment and everything she's never had a guy doesn't she has a little beautiful apartment I was like two blocks from the beach in Fort Bragg I'm going to break the news that I established here in the high desert and I would invite her to move and she was gracious enough to only to accept my proposal but I gave her the freedoms like you needed a couple years and I'm down to move with this trial supporting me here in the high desert and we got married right here at our house here in Phelan and I live right here in feeling still aren't technically Victorville but the bother me so we're like four blocks away from feeling so we're basically weird feeling in Victorville and really thoroughly enjoy the high desert we enjoy it's it's only a landscaper also the people I have folks that I have known since I was probably Middle School have supported Mr Mills is another person wanting a shout out to you because I remember when my dad passed away this community my dad passed away we did not have life insurance for my dad and so we had to raise $10,000 in like 10 days not sure that because that's why I love Community because this community Lily $5 at a times at a time raise enough money to bury my father here and so would I I think of why I'm here I think of the community folks I've known since high school that really showed up for us and not too many times we need help this can we showed up and we really care for each other and I'm invested in giving back to it and I think for me and my family life and traditions for the last 25 years our families held a graduation getting right here on students from Celina High School honored by siriano and by the population around for my exclusive for me family me and my wife this is this she's a part of now the high the high desert community because of how much myself and my family been held in this communion dark times and also and beautiful times so that's my family that's how we were formed and that's how we show up for this community is because the screen Ross I have maintained got down even areas where Taco time is it on time fall apart from tragedy we were held together by skameleon me level so that's my family that's how we got here that's why we're going to stay here for another 25 plus years Arcadia I am so proud to be a part of the cylinder alumni community and I think my 50 things that changed my life is the teachers you know so I don't have all kinds of things built up a pack cigarettes bill call check and David Nelson take things out of Education I'll be there
