S1.E1 Welcome to Snowline in the Works! This new video series highlights the facilities projects made possible by Measure J, passed by the Snowline community in November. Thanks to your support, we are able to invest in our schools and build spaces that inspire learning, growth, and opportunity for every student. In this series, you’ll get an inside look at projects across the district—from planning and groundbreaking to completion. hello everyone and welcome to snowline in The Works building better schools together my name is Robert Chacon and I serve as a director of marketing and public relations for soline Joint Unified School District but more importantly I am a graduate of serrano High School a long time member in this community and a snowline parent someone who deeply cares about our schools and the students and families we serve over the past 10 years I've had the opportunity to see a lot of the work that happens behind the scenes when it comes to educating snowline students the kids who grew up here learn here and will 1 day shape this community that includes the planning the funding and the preparation that goes into supporting classrooms programs and learning environments work that often takes time and isn't always visible right away and through all of that 1 Thing became very clear our community deserves a better window into how this work is actually unfolding a big part of supporting student learning also means making sure our school FAQ abilities are safe functional and able to meet the needs of today's classrooms that's where Snow Line in the works comes in this series is designed to give you a clear visual look at the facility Improvement projects happening across snowline schools real progress explaining what's happening and documenting these changes as they move forward before we jump into this month's updates it helps to take a step back and look at how we got here and why these improvements matter educating students in a district as large and diverse as snow line takes longer term planning and coordination over time communities grow programs evolve and expectations for learning environments change the schools our students attend have to grow and adapt along with them many snowline campuses include buildings that were 9 decades ago for a very different era of Education as classrooms technology and students needs have changed so has the need to update and modernize these spaces where learning happens supporting student learning isn't just about what happened inside the classroom it also depends on the condition safety and functionality of the space around it that's why facility Improvement projects play such an important role in the overall educational experience these projects don't happen all at once work often takes place in phases across multiple campuses and over several years from the outside that can make progress difficult to see month-to-month that show how this work is moving forward and how it connects back to supporting students staff and the broader community for students that means learning in spaces that are safer more functional and better suited for today's classrooms for staff it means working in environments designed to support teaching collaboration and daily operations and for our community it means clear consistent communication showing how long-term planning turns into real visible improvements like safer campuses better accessibility and school space is that continue to serve students and families 4 years to come with that context in mind let's take a look at what's been happening this month across no line schools across snowline schools real work is taking shape on multiple campuses from high schools to elementary schools with projects focused on improving safety modernizing aging facilities and creating spaces that better support today's students these improvements look different at each site but together they represent meaningful changes happening throughout the tri community Serrano High School the transformation project includes construction of a new entry Tower and classroom building along with additional portable class support campus needs improvements also include updates to the administration building Rehabilitation of existing classroom and locker room spaces replacement of fire alarm systems across the campus in a reconfiguration of the front parking lot and student drop off area to improve circulation and campus safety in addition Serrano's Performing Arts Center will receive a comprehensive lighting upgrade replacing the existing theatrical lighting and control systems dating fixtures and modernizing rigging and curtain systems to better support student performances in community events at baldy Mesa Elementary School modernization efforts include restroom renovations accessibility up grades playground and Field improvements fire alarm system upgrades and new bus loading and drop off areas to improve campus circulation and safety shop rail High School's modernization project includes upgrades site improvements replacement of campus wide fire alarm and intercom systems and modifications to existing buildings to better support current instructional needs at Pinon Hills Elementary School upgrades to parking and drop off areas to meet accessibility requirements improvements to the campus Amphitheater with a new shade structure restroom Renovations replacement of Aging HVAC units and updates to fire alarm public address and security systems across the site in addition to these modernization efforts several other projects are moving forward across the district at Serrano high school plans include interim housing and new portable classroom buildings to support campus needs during construction as well as long-term improvements to the track and field facilities an important space not just for student athletes but for the broader community that gathers there for events and activities additional details on these projects will be shared as they move further through the planning and bidding process taken together these projects reflect a continued investment in the schools that serve our students and families every day improvements made possible through major J the bond approved by our community to support local schools this work represents a shared commitment to keeping Snow Line schools safe functional and ready for the next generation hi I'm Lisa h and I'm the principal of serrano high school and I can't tell you how excited I am to finally be getting a modernization funding I think it'll be a place where students are going to be proud of they're going to be able to just sit in the classrooms and actually be able to to have all the modern technology they're going to walk across our our campus and be proud to be at Toronto high school they deserve it we have a lot of teachers who've been here for many many many years the classrooms that they're going to have now are going to actually be enhanced with speakers and so that's going to be great for them construction is going to be hard because we're going to be displaced but they are so excited about the end result for that I think all around everybody's going to be positively affected by this and so I'm I'm I'm happy I'm super happy as a first of all that that I'm going to be part of this thank you for joining us for Snow Line in The Works building better schools together we're here in the srono high school library right in the middle of construction because progress is happening all around us we'll continue to bring you
