Snowline Celebrates Record Number of Students at Annual Reclassification Ceremony

PHELAN, CA — On Thursday, October 30, Snowline Joint Unified School District held its annual Reclassification Ceremony at the Serrano High School Performing Arts Center, honoring students from kindergarten through 12th grade who have achieved full English language proficiency.

This year marks a record-breaking milestone for Snowline, with more than 150 students being recognized for their accomplishment — the highest number in district history.

To earn reclassification, students demonstrated advanced English proficiency by scoring a Level 4 (“Well Developed”) on the ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) and meeting additional academic criteria. This achievement highlights years of effort, resilience, and growth for multilingual learners across all Snowline schools.

Reclassification is a great milestone for our bilingual students and puts them on the path to attaining the California Seal of Biliteracy at graduation, a very high distinction,” said Charlotte Eckenroth, Snowline’s Coordinator of Program Quality and Learning Support.

While most of Snowline’s multilingual learners speak Spanish as their home language, the district proudly supports students who also speak Russian, French, Korean, Tagalog, Chinese, Arabic, Urdu, and Japanese — reflecting the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of the Snowline community.

Snowline JUSD extends heartfelt congratulations to all reclassified students and their families for this remarkable achievement and continued success on their educational journey.
