PHELAN, CA — The Snowline Joint Unified School District, in partnership with the Tri-Community Kiwanis Club, proudly hosted the 31st Annual Veterans Dinner at Serrano High School. The long-standing event, led by Mr. Todd Anton, a History Teacher at Heritage School, continues to be one of the most meaningful traditions in the Snowline community—honoring those who have served our country while connecting them with future generations.
For more than three decades, Mr. Anton has been the driving force behind this event, fostering a space where students, veterans, and community members come together to share a meal, stories, and gratitude. As Mr. Anton prepares to retire from teaching at the end of this school year, his legacy of service and appreciation for veterans will continue for years to come, as he plans to carry on this beloved tradition beyond the classroom.
Each year, hundreds of veterans from across the High Desert gather at Serrano High School to reconnect with fellow servicemembers and share their experiences with Snowline students. The event not only celebrates their service but also gives students a unique opportunity to serve those who served—an experience that brings history to life and strengthens the bond between generations.
“We are incredibly grateful for Mr. Anton and his unwavering love for our veterans and our students,” said Robert Chacon, Public Information Officer for Snowline JUSD. “Through this event, he has created powerful opportunities for students to listen, learn, and serve—connecting them to the real stories and sacrifices of our veterans’ families. His work exemplifies what it means to Educate, Inspire, and Prepare our students for lives of purpose and gratitude.”
The Snowline community extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Anton, the Tri-Community Kiwanis Club, and the many students, staff, and volunteers who make the Veterans Dinner possible each year. Their collective effort ensures that the legacy of service, honor, and gratitude continues to thrive in our schools and throughout the High Desert community—reflecting Snowline’s mission to Educate, Inspire, and Prepare every student.
