this is the January 20th version of the covid office hours for 3 p.m. version and again showing Primo here at the. Talking all things covid trying to answer a few questions talking to a few folks that have jumped on going to answer a few questions that have been put into our covid office our link to the Google form as well as James Fields always does a good job of transferring it to a shared document that I will try to get ourselves situated an answer questions for you but again probably out of many things right that there's just a lot of you know fluidity fluidity into what's going on in Snow Line relative to the guidelines roller the communities and so on we have a lot of updates that will be coming probably in the next in a month still relative to the changing guidelines with Department of Public Health OSHA and the depart Center for Disease Control riding I've usually try to say those specifically because we follow those guidelines closely and they're all aligned but they do change and what we found is that they have a tendency to change you know weekly or every other week it during High Times like our current on surge so we eat what we tell you to may change next week so I just want to be honest with you about it right so you while you're here today might be slightly different for future versions so will try to continue to record these we're just chatting about that recording we're going to try to be sorry about that, but at this point though we're going to look at our document and we're going to look at our information but I do like to start first by you know letting people who may have a question that's more burning open up their mic and ask their question like we can answer that first in case you have to drop off so not a lot of you on today but anybody have a quick question that you want me to answer pausing and all right let's go to our form then offer so I'll probably want a bigger question is out of many that has come up that are kind of encapsulated in things are right now what are we doing with Staffing how are we doing with everyone so quick review there's two different ways that you can submit to the district that there is covid positive covid cases of that you're close, so I will say it out loud but the staff version is covid-19 at snowline schools.com and that's the if you are positive you as an employee of snow line and you need report that you can email your results to covid-19 at snowline schools.com now the important thing there is that you attach your positive test or the D by which you been exposed so for example my family is my brother my sister my spouse whatever you know we live with them and you know I they've tested positive so then you're going to get some information I'm back asking questions like when did you first develop do you have symptoms are you fully vaccinated you know when are you sure you're close contact which comes with its own definition but if you're if you don't have do you know the need to ice later quarantine which I'll explain then you'll receive information back like you are cleared to go to work so let's talk about vaccinations and booster that was one of the questions I believe on our document of the ones who are the other ones that are vaccinated fully vaccinated in the booster do they need to start testing so he kind of gave me the overview first of all as a as a new guideline the booster is a requirement to be deemed fully vaccinated so when you look Department of Public Health guidelines if you don't have the booster shot then you're going to be considered not fully vaccinated or if you are not eligible to receive the booster yet and this came up and you know when you think of it as six month at six months after your first set of shots or in that better wording would be after your second shot six months after that shot of your of your J&J are the only one you get for J & J and you're not eligible for a booster yet in our definition you are going to be deemed fully vaccinated because you're just not eligible for it the other one that were running across is that if you have had covid in the last 90 we can put you in the fully vaccinated category so there was a note three Provisions both shots or the single shot of Johnson & Johnson with a booster covid in the last 90 days who won the case of not booster eligible now why does that make a difference though so if my sister has covid and I've been hanging out with my sister and I'm fully vaccinated I'm allowed to go to work long as I don't have symptoms myself I'm feeling fine I've been around my sister I am able to go to work but I have to monitor my symptoms continuing to wear my mask during the 10 days following exposure but here's an interesting piece they asked us to test you on day 5 because in day 5 if you end up with a positive then we're going to put you into your own little category of isolation what were finding though with this is that often times the people who are fully vaccinated or not testing positive so as a result it's more precautionary so we're looking at our best ways to you know it and I Chase Wright get that day 5 test without having to have you drive over to the district office to get a rapid antigen test right we have covid Clinic we have the color platform and it was so we try to do things a little bit efficient for our employees obvious but you know on that that exposure at home if I'm not fully vaccinated I am now in close contact we Define that as within 6 ft 24 hours of 15 min is it a 24 hour. If I'm hanging out with my sister I'm not fully vaccinated we now have to look at putting you out on a close contact quarantine now it is important vocabulary words Salishan I tested positive I have covid quarantine I was exposed to quote covid but I may not have covid or the symptoms of covid-19 case I can actually test that day five right and I could come back then same thing right I'm fully vaccinated not fully vaccinated but I test Sunday 5 and not having any symptoms I can return to work but I have to agree to continue to wear my mask the full quarantine is 10 days I'm eligible to take a test on day 5 and come back and here's another interesting you know aspect of this based off the song if you read or listen to the CDC with this late variant of Omicron by day two or day three or your kind of in the full full full blown exposure or actually probably sneezing or head cold and loss of taste excetera my day 5 though the transmissibility of you and your symptoms decrease some stain not for everyone but this is what we're seeing people are feeling better on day 5 so they're testing even with a positive test my day 5 your eligible to take a test if you happen to come back negative you can return to work as long as you continue to put on your man and a good practice of course wash your hands hand sanitizer keep your distance in the days before covid if you had the flu and happen to be around people you know you tried to stay away from him just so you didn't transmit right so if you're just joining we're kind of going through just a general overview of covid-19 in Ploy he's we are recording this in case you're just joining us 2nd and later go out onto a podcast people can review so you know the various categories uncovered is the I'm positive it's me and I got the actual positive but maybe I was in close contact I'm fully vaccinated what is that mean I'm hopefully vaccinated what is that mean and so the key though as and I put it in the the chat originally for those of you just joining the really the keto is each time you need to email us and let us know don't go into your own quarantine don't go in your own eye so be sure to not inform us don't just call off sick and don't tell anybody you know email because then you're going to get real clear response as to when you're eligible to take a test on day 5 and so on I make one quick Link in this to make sure everybody understands the district office has rapid antigen test that we've been using for staff to determine if they're positive or negative or in order to return to work we don't have an unlimited Supply Robert Chacon did a great job of getting in line right away it took us 6 weeks to get a thousand of them and he got right back in line again and it's been probably four weeks and we still we have another set of them so we're not this handing them out to everybody we're not just giving those out to the site what we're doing is we're holding on to him so that we can you know support our employees but it does require people to drive over here or run a test out to you testing the car you got to send a picture of your test with your name on it and the date you tested this is an important distinction and of course I'll certainly let James another 20 deal with a portent that you could test on a Thursday like today I tested positive but something made me test maybe I wasn't feeling well yesterday maybe I had symptoms on Wednesday so when you email that Denise myself or Robert or James and they respect you know back out to you and say what are your symptoms are your first day in our calculations of your quarantine. Are your isolation. exposure so some of the questions we come back for you to you would be well when was the exposure with your brother when for example did you know where you around them where you around them are you sure you ground them for 6 within 6 Speed 15 minutes you know and someone important distinction that we meeting after this meeting to try to get some clarity on right now they're looking at some new guidelines they're talking about some exposure pieces right enough for those of you guideline junkies that reading you know the very first day they come out you know they're talking about some different ways of looking at clothes contacts in so as a commitment to you know RT we always try to make sure we understand it first before we make any sort of you know changeover that would affect employees soda so you know we may be seeing some a new information even coming out next week doctor Holman is now onto this I mean he likes me to call him Ryan Ryan is probably going to put out at 3 and 3 with James if it hasn't already been done or will be going out and I was certainly trying to get some information out there to our employees and our community so that they know hey there may be some new information coming now with this though it you know it's important and you know certainly those questions that were asking because we're getting you know I wouldn't say any more than when you were sick like the basic don't like hey I'm sick I had covid thank you right so you know we have to come back with some some base level questions like oh I'm sorry to hear that can you tell us can you include your picture of the test except just now those are some usual pieces we're asking for all of our employees know when they do that and then there is a common connection to it and that is due I have to test negative The Comeback well guess what on day 10 absolutely not Dave 10 comes around that's the end of your quarantine you can return on day 11 without any negative test as long as you're symptom-free no I haven't you know medication keeping your fever down and saw the Assumption pieces yourself screening you're feeling fine you're coming back to work however do what I've stated already is though when you're eligible the test on day 5 or day 6 or days the short near corn King. You actually need a negative test if you're going to shortening your quarantine or your isolation. We can let you come back just because for example you're telling us Sunday 7 that you feel and that you want to return we do need that negative test in order to be a long beard with again no other symptoms and that you are not on medication the kind of reduce that fever so some important distinctions there that's a lot of intro all related to the staff and them things right I'll always look to those in here you know certainly if I miss anything right if James or Robert or anything but the other part is hey you know maybe I said something that you have a follow-up question for or you maybe have a question that's not even related to what I started with if you're just joining me and I don't feel free to open your mic if you have some addition all right looks like we do looks like Ryan Holman go ahead sir hello to everyone thinks everyone relative to the situation if in fact free resolving is is fine as well right Sean at the Q a fever but yeah thank you I appreciate that Clarity you may have a few no minor symptoms that are much better than where they were but you know absolutely you don't have to be you know certainly completely healthy without any sort of symptoms because goodness we know what some things or carry on for a few extra days past that but at that point you're good to come back so thanks for that question run that looks like SD has a question hi yes I am I took my weekly cast through Toronto and I must be asymptomatic cuz it came back positive I got my results today I called the covid-19 and I asked cuz I normally test Thursday night so I eligible if I understood you correctly can I wait or do I wait five days and then come to the district for a rapid test or I know they already signed my kids out cuz they're in close contact and they can list of Saturday funny about it to Robert your comes on here and he raised his hand quickly on that we're going to respond to that one for us I just got the email of all the positive cases from color so I'll be shooting you an email as we speak what kind of the details lined out about your case in particular your guys are a little unique just because the results came in so late right so the testing date was on the 14th and Immunity passed your five days so technically you can take a test today or tomorrow and if it's negative you be able to return to work so I'll put all of them something in an email there's Deborah Levy I'll be emailing but I'm writing you work as we speak you want me to wait for your email yeah I can answer that you can come by and grab a test of you know just when you drive up we have them here at the district as I indicated just drive up and there's a number on the front door you can call us Well Ron went out to you and assuming that it is negative rake like Robert said you know you'll be able to because you passed your five days but you haven't passed your 10 if I'm accurate on that Robert has a and days yet correct yeah that's correct. It was the 14th so good news on it this weekend or if you want to come down okay cool I'll get ready to do that but my next question is is I didn't pick up kids rapid test do they still need to test if I'm negative I did receive a positive I just begin to be clear their close contacts to you is that correct positive test you're going off of your positive test correct so in that particular case then you know they're past their five days right so they can also test right and as far as picking up those rapid test you know again Ryan and I've been talking Robert you know we know that not everybody could ride get to their school sites to do it you may not be able to get to the school sites today you know they may be closed at the spa but if the design of it was that there is a two pack for each of your children at your children school you know they had specific days that they were passing them out if you miss those you can certainly check with the office staff to ask when the best time to come in now for tomorrow though right to be a little bit of a tight timeline to try to get that deposit it or that test cleared you know so again certainly if you can secure any in a week we're not really giving them out for the student side of the house out of ours for the things I've mentioned but if any of your school sites you're connected to you maybe can see if you can maybe get those or I'll look the robber door or the Ryan I mean I don't know if we got some help we could maybe help in this situation or this have them test first thing in the morning right as they get off in the soon positivity when you drop them off get the tests have them test in the car report the results if they're - I think be in good shape that way okay I'm going to log off and after the district right now then if it is to be clear drive up by the flagpole there's a little driveway then you know just come on to that site then someone will come in okay okay thank you real-time see we're able to help someone today that's awesome so again kind of looking at the questions I Can Feel Free at you know again I'm trying to make sure I'm cognizant of our time today we have a lot of questions Tracy did a good job of representing some folks that are not on this meeting so I'm going to go down that list thank you James is there a new app testing policy and if so what is it you can cross off that I was telling you I believe someone sent that to me and then later send a follow-up photo I want to hear that I'm going to be moving right along then and again James going to help me even after he leaves the district is going to help you know making sure that we have a mechanism to record that was moving forward right did they update the health facts about symptoms so they stopped sending the kids back to us if they do not have a fever symptom with Barry and I think it's the way that one is so you know again I know James even working on that side of the house with the with the Bell text Rebecca and so on are you know again I believe that they have you know I read kind of bad out those symptoms like we spoken about in previous but again James and he has any insight on now and no obligation if you if you don't it's checking my sources here I have to go with me to court can unmute myself and then come back here so it's hard to make that differential between a scratchy throat no fever so they're still multiple symptoms of the virus and so I think that will they stay up-to-date and so I think they're still abiding by scratchy throat vomiting things like that so they're up to date on it I wouldn't start to James thank you for that you know I certainly have reference in the past that I think we're trying to be more prudent about symptoms being potentially covid-19 you know so air on the side of caution talk to the blazing so on but again I'll respond to the question this way I'd hoped that the health effects are communicating as best they can with the teacher's butt and I remembered my pre-coated days as an administrator and as a teacher again sometimes kids would come back without any sort of explanation as to why they're back in my class so we'll work with Rebecca and and so on and our health text try to get that Clarity of other at least what we found out that we can feel better about you know that we we vetted them so to speak before will the teacher receive a kid or is there something we have to order for ourselves and get reimbursed for a boy that's a great combination the questions now I'll be the first to say I'm I'm slow in my own email so if you haven't read my emails I sent out some resources I think it was 2 days ago we had received some information that there's availability first staff member to go to certain sites did the County of San Bernardino there was a phone number number there is a bump covid test. Gov allows us to order up to 4 test at 4 at home for one household so you know husband and wife you know Partners can in a each order that they associated with your address so that is another reason source and then I think it was a Ryan that found one that he had and that was that the reimbursement end of it right I believe that was something that was also a dinner maybe it was James you know that if you you buy an over-the-counter test which by the way is somewhat difficult these days to buy those are in in hot demand that I think you can submit the receipt and get reimbursed for that test at home any Claire we're did I misspeak on that form either Ryan or James what time you mention Sean and I am pretty sure that was a question somebody sent me and I was pretty sure the answer was going to be no that they would be response with the exception being if they've contacted and need to get tested at the deal is that a fair Stinger respond to say no but you have to follow those options and or if you're positive then you can go take the I said to be up if you think you have a if you think you're positive we have resources for you as an employee if you want your own set at home or your own we're not getting those out but we're getting resources to get those and by the way we're not reimbursing the test and again James might be able to add I think that's through your healthcare provider now that if you purchase that you can reimburse so so again some free resources as well as the reimbursable resources but James anything your dad in that area local Health departments where you can go and get a free test there are USPS actually offering on their website where you can place an order and you can receive a free home test and so they're there are out there that are kind of teaming up to help people grab at home rapid test so I threw and actually get the USPS one and he texted me and it actually replied thank you your order has been placed so that does seem to be working on that was the USPS one and that was yesterday so so far unless we receive them so good I think I also heard James mine that you know at least my order from yesterday or 2 days ago said they'd ship about the end of January so you know there may be a little backlog and when I called the nice person I spoke to on that phone number for San Bernardino County what she said was just call ahead to make sure because again sometimes if you run out of supplies for that day and then they come to restock you know as well so get a kind of ties in a couple of questions off the the document the next to our kind of package together right is it possible to get self test brought to the sites versus you know travel to the DA to get them and kind of staff member pick up a wrap has to do they have to have symptoms or coming off to get those tests and I'm kind of address to but I'll say it again, first of all that were really holding them in reserve for those that think they're positive and need a test or go on a clear to come back to work we are asking that you drive to the Dio but I'll be the first to say if I'm not mistaken probably Ryan and Robert and James myself Denise we have literally driven out test decide if need be you no  to make sure an employee it's one if it's going to help the Cause right generally speaking we ask them to drive over here though and we're not supplying each site with their own set I will like those something though and I think it's a you know a prudent application students were given a double set of those rapid antigen test provided to us by our governor and the initiative that he put forth to try to get those to us probably more three weeks ago they finally came in last week we got a distributed are still some in the office though and again we keep talking to parents about them we keep in the office and I was so in a pinch of a student needed a test ride or even at worst case scenario you know us I've Ever Needed the test you know that and we we really exhausted all methods to try to communicate we might tap into a box to try to help a staff member of student of it really reserved trying to do a one-to-one correspondence the ride a rhino when has a test kit at in a serrano he hasn't been there for 2 weeks you know we're not just giving that away it's really set aside for Ryan will keep trying to get Ryan to come there but if he doesn't then you know it's some point you know we'll probably just use them if needed and those emergency type situation so in this case our next one right about Matt the enforcing of masking indoors as reported then how can we make an employee use their own time if they see the covid sick days and then again you no concern about legal action in this way right this kind of review first of all that we are and doing you expect staff members to self screen and that we are expecting our employees to go ahead and wear a mask when they're at work in a building right so let's go back to two. it was an expectation in K-12 settings with students present and then our governor added for example that is that all indoor settings through January 15th but then I would expect a text ended the February we've asked all of our supervisors and our principles and our department supervisors directors Etc to continue to Monitor and reinforce with our staff that they're supposed to wear it in regards to whether or not you know some employees are not we are asking our our supervisors and and and administrators to follow up with them we aren't talking about though right a height of a tough time I am at those conversations about you know really trying to get after some folks that are being really negligent and what they're doing it I'll always go with off as I'm assuming people are seeing their colleague missing work and I'm biased but they're seeing the news so wearing a mask is even more important when I talked to our supervisors and our administrators what they're saying is when they go in they are seeing people wear masks when they're not there they're here messed up in the right way my understanding and all that certainly Ryan or others you know kind of share their perspective on this mean that's what we're hearing but I think and again. I looked at Tracy be no certainly the next as we think about the next level of enforcement Tracy Young hold the position SD a leadership team you know and the teacher side of the house you know and they were also asking you know is this the time to released ratcheting up what could be even upwards of unpaid leave of absence if your non-compliant right there again just so you know we are continuing to enforce in a reinforced and when we see it correct but if things are still happening we will really double down our efforts it sounds like butt and I'll look to Ryan any thoughts in this area very well what I would add is tomorrow free video has another reminder write a note to add to the power of of the massive the power of us together is all of us you want another I'm not just administrative and it's certainly not lost on us that we have that responsibility that follow-up he described it very well what I recall. It's a back in the day and I think it still it still is true that there's power in all of us when we rally around, cause and I believe they have impact on their colleagues what I found is when there's a collective effort around what's right and what recommendations. Just to support what you say and I think I will say that that comes from both sides, so some of the concern of course our people who are upset because people are not but then I also not. myself but the rest of the team and here is from the people who are still up in arms and feeling very angry and upset about having to wear mail so we are still getting it you know these questions and feelings on both sides of the coin so to speak he had an important distinction in there to Tracy that I don't want it omit and that is the use of covid in a straight of lead you right because again we could little quick history when we first went into remote learning there was a legislative action to allow education to do that it was a covid response covid relief Bill Wright some actionable steps school districts can do outside budget at one of the things they are allocated first right out of the gate was you know if somebody is sick they could 10 paid administrative leave days and that the staff at The District's going to ask for reimbursement on well then they extended it again. send it to 10 more they re-up the bill right as we continue to work our way through the other pandemic effects but that was sunset in that ability to get reimbursed by the state the end September and again under the certainly the support of our school board and it was Snow Line opted to issue another you know 10 days of coded leave so when you put it in that sequence ride relative to the question now there's been and allocated over the course of you know the better part of a year and a half to address those employees that are that are certainly covid positive but again it's interesting when we talked to our surrounding districts were the only this it added an additional 10 days most of them have left it at the main out of their own leaves Banks to to do they're also having the same enforcement issues as well write a letter conversation to my colleagues I'm pretty sure Ryan does I'm sure Robert does and I'm trying to get employees to follow through on mitigation strategies like masking has been a challenge because of the belief systems you will leave alluded to Tracy a-10s bring opinions but the point I would certainly make in this case that we know our employees are are not necessarily getting covid at school either right you know so you know relative to the question about Mass you know being the effect we're actually coming off of Christmas break for example we had one of our highest you know positive testing few days right after that I noticed that was coming off of when people on their own time and around their own friends and family and it was so again it's important to recognize that being vigilant as an employee taking that ownership and and staying away you know if you need to especially from people you know if he goes back to Ron this point about it really takes us all and I want to do so I think I heard you know line is still choosing to pay Japan Days at this time not cuz they're mandated but they're at they are still doing that if you are healed of course will the say October 1st right cuz I would be after the end of September Snow Line authorized up to 10 days of paid administrative leave beyond the 20 that have been allocated out through the state however knowing full well we weren't sure what we were facing that we weren't as we don't have any additional intention of of extending another 10 for that 10 for most people as carried through till now you know we've been able to have most of our employ tested positive since the holidays are still be able to use that you know those
